Therapy

The name Visible Helene reflects my belief that our mental health is shaped not only by our inner world, but by the world around us — the systems, structures, and social conditions we live within, as much as the family patterns and personal history we carry. Injustice, exclusion, and inequality leave real marks on how we feel, behave, and relate to others, often in ways that go unseen or unnamed. In my practice, I work to bring these hidden influences gently into awareness, using a person-centred approach that honours your experience and pace.

I liken this process to nurturing a tree: by exploring and understanding the roots, we can release what has been holding you back, allowing the whole tree — your life — to become more visible, grounded, and beautiful. Therapy with me is a collaborative journey of insight, self-discovery, and growth, where together we illuminate the factors shaping your life and create space for your strengths, values, and potential to flourish.

Gentle space, meaningful change

Welcome — I’m Helene

I’m a neurodiverse integrative psychotherapist passionate about supporting emotional health and wellbeing. My practice provides a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your inner world, gain insight, and find tools to navigate life’s challenges — step by step, at your own pace.

I have a particular focus on supporting survivors of relationship abuse, neurodiverse clients, people living with invisible illnesses and disabilities, and those rebuilding their lives after addiction treatment. I also work more broadly with anxiety, depression, grief, and identity challenges, and offer couples counselling alongside one-to-one work, both online and in person in Liverpool.

I draw on an integrative approach, combining Transpersonal, Person-Centred, and Family Systems Therapy, and informed by Parts Work (including Internal Family Systems, IFS) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), alongside other modalities. This allows me to work holistically, considering your mind, body, emotions, relationships, and spirit. I believe therapy is a collaborative process: you are the expert on your own life, and I am here to support you in reconnecting with your values, strengths, and potential.

My practice, Visible Helene Therapy, is guided by empathy, understanding, and the belief that meaningful change comes from a safe, nurturing space where clients can grow at their own pace.

Transpersonal Psychotherapy – I take a holistic approach to healing, recognising that we are more than our minds and bodies. Transpersonal work focuses on the transcendent factors that make up our whole selves, the power of our interconnectedness with others, and our relationship with that which is greater than ourselves. By placing a healthy spirit at the centre of my practice, I help you nurture the creative, emotional, mental, intellectual, physical, and social aspects of your life, supporting overall wellbeing and satisfaction.

Person-Centred Therapy – I trust that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we explore your inner values and sense of self-worth, facilitating growth and helping you recognise your strengths and identity. Life can be difficult, and Person-Centred Therapy encourages you to embrace your feelings as guides to a more authentic and fulfilling way of living.

Family Systems Therapy – This approach views the family as an emotional unit and explores how family patterns and generational influences shape behaviour. By understanding your experiences through this lens, therapy can reveal the bigger picture of your struggles, normalise your experiences, and give you greater clarity and choice in your relationships and life.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) / Parts Work – I work with the understanding that we each hold different “parts” within us — protective parts that keep us safe, wounded parts that carry old pain, and a core Self beneath them all, capable of calm, clarity, and compassion. Rather than trying to fix or silence these parts, IFS helps you build a curious, caring relationship with them, so they can soften their roles and you can lead from that grounded Self.

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) – EFT is built on the idea that emotions carry vital information, and that healing comes not from avoiding difficult feelings but from turning towards them with support. I help you identify, understand, and make sense of your emotional experience, particularly in relationships, so that old patterns of disconnection can shift towards greater security and closeness.

I’m a registered member of NCIP and hold full professional insurance.
